Do I need extra lighting?
Each private bedroom, bathroom and common space has overhead lighting. In the 6 bed double, the double has two overhead lights that can be independently illuminated.

What kind of flooring is in the room?
All the individual rooms and common space have vinyl composite (VCT) tile. The bathrooms are ceramic tile. There is not carpet in the rooms at all. Hallways and common space throughout the building are carpeted.

How many ports/plugs are in each room?
There is one ethernet port and one cable outlet in each room and 5 additional electrical outlets. One of the electrical outlets is a four plug outlet and the other four are two plug electrical outlets. In a 6 bed double, there are two ethernet ports and two cable outlets and an additional electrical outlets, 2 quads 5 doubles.

What size are the windows?
The windows in each individual room measure 51 inches wide by 51 inches tall. There is approximately 1-1.5 inches of space between the room blinds and the outer lip of the window to place a tension rod. Residents can put up valance as long as no damage is done to the walls. (no nails, screws, duct tape, etc. Curtains are not permitted in any student rooms due to fire hazards, but each room does have horizontal blinds.

What is the size of the closet?
One bedroom private: 4 feet 5 inches wide by 7 feet and 1 inch tall (to top of rack) 4 bedroom private and 6 bedroom double: 2 feet 7 inches wide by 7 feet 1 inch tall (to top of rack) 2 adjustable wire shelves are provided in each closet regardless of the room type. The shelving also functions as a hanging rod for clothing.

Does Housing & Residence Life clean the bathrooms?
No. Students are responsible for maintaining their own bathrooms within their rooms. Housing & Residence Life staff does maintain common-area bathrooms. It is possible during Winter Break, Housing & Residence Life Staff will enter rooms to do mid-year floor maintenance.

Do students need to bring an ethernet cable?
Yes, students should bring an ethernet cable to be able to connect their computer to the internet. There is wireless throughout the entire building, but the fastest service is through the hard-wired connection.

Do students need to bring their own cable cord?
Yes, students should being their own coaxial cable to be able to connect to the digital cable service.

Can the beds be lofted?
No. However, the beds can be raised on their frame to provide storage space beneath. At maximum height, there is approximately 30-31 inches of clearance for storage. Bed may not be placed on risers. In the 6 bedroom doubles, the beds are able to be bunked to provide students with more floor space.

What furniture comes in each room?
Each student receives the following furniture: - 1 twin extra-long bed (3 feet wide, 6 feet 6 inches long, 7 inches thick*)
- 1 desk (2 feet 2 inches wide, 2 feet deep, 2 feet 6 inches tall*)
- 1 desk add-on/side cabinet (1 foot 5 inches wide, 2 feet deep, 2 feet 6 inches tall*)
- 1 dresser (2 feet 5 inches wide, 2 feet deep, 2 feet 6 inches tall*)
- 1 desk chair
